It's a side quest that becomes available a few hours into the game. The gun you get as the reward for completing the quest is totally worth it.

I bought The Legendary Collection so you don't have to! A First Impressions Review

    Posted: 29 May 2020 12:48 PM PDT

Have you ever wanted to uncover an ancient treasure? Slaughter a Tyrannical Dictator? Role play as a bipolar trashcan while face-shooting space bandits in the face, IN SPACE? Well, sugar, you can do it all on a console small enough to fit in you pants, but big enough that it takes two hands to hold!

So a lot of people are on the fence about buying the switch ports due to the concerning lack of official reviews, so I thought I'd give my two cents on it to help guide your opinion. This review will be aimed towards fans, so I'll be talking about performance and the gameplay experience so far, but I will leave out the story.

DISCLAIMER: The physical copy/cartridge does NOT contain all three games within it, but rather through download codes, so make your purchase wisely. Also note that BL2 does NOT contain the Commander Lilith DLC, and as of writing this, is not available as a separate purchase or free download.

To begin, I just want to say I'm pleasantly surprised with how well these ports run! I expected them to run noticably worse than the mext gen console ports, or at least make sacrifices to reach a steady performance, but huzzah! They're great! In the couple of hours I've played the three games so far, I cant notice any vast differences in the quality of the visuals between the Xbox One and Switch ports, other than frame rates.

Performance: We were told that the game would run at a steady 30 frames and 1080p, and that seems to hold true. Ive experienced some very slight dips in frame rates when im in busier areas, and theres is some pop-in on the assets, but it still beyond playable. BL1 at a high FOV seems to run just under 30 FPS, but its still incredibly steady

Options: For the most part, you can tailor the options to optimize your experience in game minus a few big departures. These departures include: as of right now, Borderlands 2 does NOT have a FOV slider, but TPS and BL1 does, oddly enough. My theory is that they wanted to see how high FOVs would affect the game on TPS before adding it to BL2, but there is nothing to confirm this suspicion, or the idea thay it will be added later on, and I know this will be a big con for many interested in these ports. The next major con in the options is the barebones motion control options. You have the ability to turn the MC on and off, to invert the MC, and to adjust the sensitivity of them. This could easily be improved with Vertical and Horizontal specific sensitivities, as well as the ability to only use MCs when in ADS. The implementation of ADS only MCs would be greatly beneficial, as Nintendo Switch controllers have not been quoted as the best for FPS games, and motion controls greatly improve the precision we have, but if you dont have steady hands like me, walking around can be nauseating after a while, as the screen continues to bob.

Bugs/Issues so far: Other than these gripes my personal experience has been near flawless, but I have seen an enemy clip through a wall, but it was quick to come back into the playing field, into the loving embrace of the business end of my shotgun. I have seen a post address an experience with major input delay, but I myself have not experienced it, and can also not confirm the authenticity of the claim, but it is worth being cautious of this possible gameplay hampering bug.

Conclusion: Overall, I think these ports are fantastic, but needs some QOL additions to the settings, and a Day 1-esque patch to squash and address any major issues players are experiencing. If these things are fixed, and Commander Lilith DLC is added, this will easily become 10/10 must buy in my book, but as of right now, I call it an 8/10, and recommend waiting for patches, or maybe a sale if you are still on the fence after this review. Hope this helps!

Edit: Made the formatting less painful I also plan to add more info as I continue to play, so check back later! Edit 2: So I found out that Aim assist was off by default on Borderlands 2, now aiming feels so much better.

    Fastball (my disappointment)

    Posted: 29 May 2020 06:22 PM PDT

I've been searching for a "Double-Penetrating Shredded Bangstick" (and recently got it). But as my hunt for this weapon happened, I got a couple fastballs. I remember enjoying the grenade, but in this game the fastball felt underwhelming.

In BL2 the fastball actually felt... fast and didn't have a drop when you throw it and it was an amazing and precise (in my opinion) grenade.

In BL3 the fastball felt lackluster, it felt slow, I had to arc it, and aim it in a certain way, when the enemy was in my crosshair the grenade wouldn't even hit the enemy. Does anyone else feel this way about the difference between the BL2 and BL3 fastballs? Or is this something that I just feel is different?

    Best way to damage Annointed?

    Posted: 29 May 2020 06:07 PM PDT

So I've reached Mayhem 10, where pretty much a third of every mob that spawns is an annointed. I have a M8 Yellowcake, which destroys virtually everything else, including badasses. However, these purple bastards can take round after round from a flipping YELLOWCAKE! There has to be a better way to bring them down faster no?

SWITCH ESHOP BUYERS, GET THE LEGENDARY COLLECTION, NOT THE HANDSOME COLLECTION

    Posted: 29 May 2020 05:09 PM PDT

I have seen a few posts about this, there are two editions on the eshop. The handsome collection Is £5 cheaper and doesn't include the first game.

It's extremely tough to refund through Nintendo and 2k are selling the first game for £24.99 separately which is complete bullshit. There should be one legendary collection on the eshop, no need for all this confusion, seeing too many cases of people missing out and getting stung to complete their collection.

What is the file size overall? I gotta dinky little microsd card in my switch and I'd like to know if I should upgrade to a larger one sooner rather than later. Thanks!

Borderlands 3 crashing a few minutes into gameplay

    Posted: 29 May 2020 10:03 PM PDT

    PC specs: I5-4460 @ 3.2 ghz, GTX 1060 6GB, 12GB RAM.

More info: I played the game fine on release, experiencing very few crashes. I played on max settings and got 50-60 fps with occasional drops. Now i decided to revisit the game after a few months, and I can barely play for more than 5 minutes before the game completely freezes and crashes. The game is running fine at a smooth 60, then suddenly everything stops but the music keeps going, seemingly with nothing specific triggering it, and i have to manually end the task.

    What i've tried so far:

    Updating windows

    Updating graphics drivers

    Reinstalling the game

Lowering the graphics settings to minimum

    Tried DX11 and DX12 both

    Capping the fps to 60

Switching between borderless window and fullscreen

Closing all background programs and then playing the game

Running the game as administrator and giving it increased resource priority

Playing at a downscaled resolution (75%)

None of that worked. It still crashes after 5-ish minutes in the game. Also, I've monitored resource usage while i play the game, my RAM and GPU are always around 50-60% but the CPU hits 90%-ish. I figure it's my CPU being unable to handle the game, but what weirds me out is that i played through it a few months ago on launch on the same rig and none of this happened.

    Any advice appreciated.

    weapon proficiencies (BL1)

    Posted: 29 May 2020 09:43 PM PDT

    Hi there,

I just got the newly released BL package I switch. I started with BL1 and I need some help.

I'm finding it very slow to increase my weapon proficiencies (currently focused on the pistols and snipers). Moreover, I don't see anything going up if I use any other weapon.

    P.s. I'm playing with Mordecai.

Should I buy the Legendary Collection or the Handsome Collection in Switch?

    Posted: 29 May 2020 09:43 PM PDT

I'm on Switch and I'm super interested in the games, though I'm conflicted. I could get two games for $70 or 3 for $90. If I buy physical on Amazon I can get all 3 for $70, what should I do?

    New manufacturer weapon types?

    Posted: 29 May 2020 03:34 PM PDT

What new weapon types would you like to be introduced into each manufacturers catalogue (if that's the word) in the next game, or even just as a one-off weapon in a DLC?

For example, Hyperion ARS, Dahl shotguns etc. I'd love to have some of those, as well as Tediore ARs.

Or just the return of old weapon types that disappeared in 3: Tediore and Maliwan launchers, Hyperion pistols (Ladyfist!!), whichever of the many Bandit/COV types that were lost.

Would be really fun to see how the companies design style and functionality translates onto the new weapon types or the return of oldies with the new mechanics.

How do shields work in BL3?

    Posted: 29 May 2020 09:25 PM PDT

Excuse me, BL3 noob here. I've played all of the previous games, and in bl2 Hyperion makes amp shields, Anshin makes adaptive shields, etc. I'm really confused on how shields work in BL3. Can someone explain this to me?

The borderlands game with the best Moxxi’s bar

    Posted: 29 May 2020 08:57 PM PDT

I would just like to start off with I take my Moxxi very very VERY seriously. I will be judging EVERYTHING IN THE BAR from the looks of the bar to how Moxxi calls me sugar. I have concluded that borderlands 2 has the best Moxxi's bar and it's not even close. Alright, since I'm just judging the bar, Moxxi in borderlands 2 does not have a introduction cut scene. (I'm not counting the campaign of carnage introduction) The bar itself does have this charm to it though, it reminds of a local neighborhood bar. It's not like the pre-sequels identity crisis bar or borderlands 3 super flashy bar. It almost reflects the people in them being similar to a local neighborhood bar. The citizens in the bar are a very small detail that I love. They are worried about handsome jack and don't over praise me for being the heroic vault hunter. That's way more than I can say about borderlands 3 civilians over praising me as the vault hunter or them saying, "Mmm I could sure use some skag balls," right in front of my pet skag. The pre sequel is even worse when the citizens just give rude remarks. Let's talk a little about the beautiful, dashing Miss Moxxi herself. The tip jar is very important as I like to put my multiple life savings in there to watch Moxxi seductively clean the counter. Borderlands 2 has the best weapons you can get from tipping her. As legendary weapons aren't as generous finds, a secured purple tier weapon is nice to have, especially in UVHM mode. The weapons, Miss Moxxi's good touch and bad touch, are way better than the crappy weapons you get in borderlands 3. The crit you get in 3 is not very viable as it drops when reloading and I find the blue tiered rifle a joke of a Moxxi weapon. The quests she give you are better than the only one side quest from borderlands 3 (even though it was one of the more better side quests from the game in my opinion, the quantity and the quality of the borderlands 2 quests are just much higher.) The weapon rewards also much better, the more Moxxi the merrier as I would say. I could go on and on all day about how this is the best Moxxi's bar but I think as this wasn't close in my opinion, I have briefly proven my point. My rankings would go, borderlands 2 as a easy first, borderlands 3 as the second place finisher, and the pre sequel dead last. (It lost me with the no tip jar) Feel free to leave any thoughts, arguments, or praise in the comments below, thank you and good day.

    Borderlands 2 crossplay question (PC)

    Posted: 29 May 2020 08:51 PM PDT

Me and my friend are playing Reborn together on PC, but he's on the EGS and I'm on Steam. If I get the level 80 DLC, can we still play together if I get higher levels than him since the dlc isn't available on the EGS?

Is there any mod/ things in the code where you can disable gore in Borderlands 1?

    Posted: 29 May 2020 04:43 PM PDT

I know I'm going to get a lot of "Why would you want to do that" and "It's not a lot just deal with it" comments but I'm a teenager, and my parents really don't like me playing stuff with gore in it. Again, you can hate all you want but there's really nothing I can do. They said I need to figure out how to have no gore or I can't play it. I may just skip to borderlands 2 because that has a gore toggle if it isn't an option in any way in this game, but I would figure I would ask. Thanks!
