    BORDERLANDS 3 HOTFIXES: MARCH 5, 2020

    Posted: 05 Mar 2020 07:07 AM PST

    https://borderlands.com/en-US/news/2020-03-05-borderlands-3-hotfixes-mar-5/

Today we will release a hotfix for Borderlands 3, which will be live on all platforms by 12:00 PM PST. This hotfix addresses concerns reported by the community and makes buffs to various Legendaries. To apply hotfixes, wait at the main menu until you see a sign that says "Hotfixes Applied"! If you are experiencing any issues or want to provide feedback, please submit a ticket to support.2k.com.

Addressed a reported concern that Moist Hand Luke and Grabby Gretchen would occasionally spawn inside of the wall during "Playing with Fire"

Addressed a reported concern that Eridium jars in Atlas HQ were occasionally despawning when leaving the area

Addressed a reported concern where characters could sometimes get stuck between a bush and the railing in The Spendopticon

Addressed a reported concern where characters could sometimes get stuck between a Ratch nest and a tree near the beginning of the Market District

Addressed a reported concern that players were sometimes able to escape the boss arena during the Trial of Cunning

Addressed a reported concern that the "Like, Follow, Obey" skin was sometimes displaying corrupt textures on the Gunner

    VAULT HUNTERS:

This week, we took a look at some character skills that were occasionally not properly reporting what was happening in-game. For these instances, we have updated the description text to show the actual in-game values and removed an instance of a penalty that was not reported on its skill description.

Addressed reported instances of the Gunner's skill descriptions sometimes showing inaccurate values

    • "Hell on Rails" skill description was occasionally showing +30% Fuel Drain instead of the actual +8%

    • "Corrosive Sabot Round" skill description was occasionally showing -50% Railgun Damage and Fuel Drain instead of the actual -33%

Addressed a reported concern that the Gunner's "Active Tracking" skill was receiving a 50% penalty to damage per missile and ammo capacity that was not listed in the skill description.

    We have removed this penalty

Fixed a typo with the Beastmaster's "Furious Attack" skill in English

Addressed a reported concern that Blood Cooled Jackbot's beam attacks were bypassing the Operative's barrier

    WEAPONS:

We are also looking at some of our Legendary weapons to get them up to par as part of the impending release of Mayhem 2.0, one of the Spring 2020 content additions we discussed at PAX East.

Can FL4K's pet stay in the bed in his room while in Sanctuary?

    Posted: 05 Mar 2020 07:09 AM PST

His pet can get in your way when picking up gear and things like that. It would be cool if the pet stayed in the bed.

Also please fix the map in Ultrawide.

Can we PLEASE just show some appreciation for Gearbox

    Posted: 05 Mar 2020 08:17 AM PST

With these last two Hotfixes it is clear(and should be for everyone else) that gearbox is truly trying to fix the game and I truly appreciate them trying to bring more viability to their legendary Arsenal.

Just keep the up the good work, there is still much to be done but all in all these Hotfixes and the glimpses of what's to come deserve our admiration.

Now if you'll excuse me, I've got a Spider Brain to farm. 😎

Why does navigating inventory still take so long?

    Posted: 05 Mar 2020 06:32 PM PST

Every time I scroll the menu, every single item icon in the backpack reloads and causes a lag spike.

Every time I mark an item as trash, every single item icon in the backpack reloads and causes a lag spike.

Every time I favorite an item, every single item icon in the backpack reloads and causes a lag spike.

Every time I select an item, every single item icon in the backpack reloads and causes a lag spike.

Every time I equip an item, every single item icon in the backpack reloads and causes a lag spike.

Every time I drop an item, every single item icon in the backpack reloads and causes a lag spike.

Borderlands is a looter. Navigating your inventory makes up like 10% of the gameplay loop. Don't get me wrong, the game is blast so far, but how the in the flying fuck has something this bad not been patched when it's been out for nearly six months??

Shadowtrap is a surpisingly refreshing villain for borderlands

    Posted: 05 Mar 2020 02:10 PM PST

Seriously i feel like they tried too hard to copy Jack in 3. Shadowtrap shows you can still do a serious, competent villain in Borderlands, whenever hes on screen he means business.

Shock Lob + Transformer = Free Shield Recharge

Shock Lob hitting my Transformer both replenishes my shield and recovers the ammo. I used this on the Takedown, basically charging at enemies trying to get hit at the same time they did.

Melee sucks in Borderlands 3. The issues with "Melee" Amara.

    Posted: 05 Mar 2020 01:24 PM PST

Now before all you keyboard warriors spam the comments how your Melee Amara build can solo the Takedown on M4 and I'm just bad, hear me out. I've solo'd the takedown with it too. But how much of it was actually Meleeing things? I'd wager very little. The majority was probably Facepuncher+White Elephant abuse. And therein lies the problem. That's not a melee playstyle, that's just shotgunning with melee scaling.

Now when I first saw Amaras skills I was pretty excited to try melee on her. She seemed like a mix of the tanky berserker of Krieg and that dashy bleedy Athena. But instead we got neither. Her best melee build still relies on shooting. Just for this post I went to the Droughts and found a basic Psycho to see how many melees it would take to kill them. With anointments procced and multiple god rolled items, it took 9 melees. 9. And it would have been a few more if my White Elephant didn't do the last 40% of her hp. That's nowhere near good enough for a dedicated melee build on the only character who has one.

So what exactly makes the build so bad?

    1 Class Mods

There is one dedicated melee class mod and one that was used as such but only because of the skills it gave.

The Dragon is one of the worst class mods in the game. For those of you unaware what it does, it triggers your action skill augment when you kill an enemy with a melee. Now that doesn't sound too bad on paper but think of this. It doesn't work with many of her augments. Mind you they may have fixed this since I last tried using the com, but that's not its only issue. It also does nothing to help you kill your target. What good is proccing an effect on something that is already dead. And the skills it gives are completely useless. Giving her more points into her blue tree and buffing a whooping 0 of her melee skills.

The Breaker isn't bad, but it isn't a good melee com. The only reason it was really ever used is the +1 to Find Your Center. The damage reduction is cute, but 29% makes minimal difference when you're getting health gated at higher difficulties.

Right now the go to melee com is the Driver, not because it buffs your melee, but because it makes your Facepuncher do more damage. On release it could make the Unleash the Dragon do some nutty DoT damage, but that got removed.

    2 Skills

Amara severely lacks in the raw damage needed to make melee builds work. With all of her melee buffing skills she can get +275% melee damage. For reference, Krieg can get +500% with just Silence the Voices, while also having over 600% more possible through his other skills. And while comparing different characters in different games isn't the most compelling, it doesn't change the fact that Amara is weak in terms of raw damage.

She also lacks ways to actively heal herself, forcing her to use a Knife Drain relic in most scenarios. Krieg, Zero, Athena, hell even Brick have some for of healing on kill that allows them to sustain while in close range. All Amara has is passive healing, that isn't anywhere near enough on higher difficulties.

So where do I think Melee Amara should go from here? I think she's a prime opportunity to have a mix of elementalist and melee that no other game has.

    Suggestion 1

Just buff her skills to give her more raw melee damage. Allow Jab Cross or Personal Space or some other skills to also buff melee damage not just gun damage. And maybe let Sustainment proc form elemental melee damage.

    Suggestion 2

Add an effect on Blitz or Illuminated Fist that causes you melees to DoT enemies in your action skill element, with that damage scaling with the damage of the melee, similar to the Unleash the Dragon. This would work around not making the Facepuncher absurd while also making melee more reliable. The most fun Melee Amara has ever been, is when the Driver came out and you could DoT anything in the game to death with 1 hit. Now It surely doesn't need to be at that level, but I think it would be a step into a fun direction. Or you could make this entire idea into a class mod. And yes I know the Unleash the Dragon already does this to an extent, but having it inbuilt allows you better elemental access (not always fire) and allow her to use other relics for more diversity.

    Suggestion 3

Give her an actual melee class mod. Something that actually buffs her melee and relevant skills at the same time. Honestly class mods in general in this game are a mess but they seem to be getting better with every addition, and I hope melee is the next one for Amara.

    Suggestion 4

Make Phaseslam damage scale with melee or make a skill or augment do so. Phaseslam in builds right now is just a waste of an animation to trigger anointments. For what your actually doing and the awesomness of the animation, it really should allow you to oneshot basic psychos at least. Right now you're lucky to strip half their shield with shock as your element.

    Suggestion 5

Give Phaseslam I-frames. It has a pretty long animation and you can't control your movements during it. I've died a number of times mid slam, which always feels shitty since it's needed for a lot on your damage. I-frames would not only make it feel better to use but also allows for you to dodge attacks with it similar to Moze entering Iron Bear.

So that's it. If you have any other ideas, like or hate mine, feel free to comment or add to the discussion. I'd love it if Gearbox took time to look at Melee Amara as an actual melee character and not just Facrepuncher everything. If you've read this far thanks, and happy vault hunting.

TL;DR Amara is not a good melee character and has to rely on the Facepuncher for damage. She has no good dedicated melee classmod and her skills are severely underpowered.

    Borderlands 3 Steam Release FAQ

    Posted: 05 Mar 2020 10:46 AM PST

Pre-load Borderlands 3 on Steam starting March 10th.
Be able to play the game as early as 7 AM PST on March 13th.

    Cross-play

You'll be prompted on first launching BL3 on Steam, and after a patch on EGS, to enable Cross-Play. This will allow you to join sessions with players on either platform via matchmaking and invites. Disabling this feature keeps you to play with those on your platform. Can be toggled at any time in options. You'll also be prompted to make a Cross-play Display Name.

No PC to Console cross-play at this time.

    Save Transfer

Save data can be transferred between Steam and EGS, though manually. You run the risk of potentially losing the save files, so backup accordingly. Detailed instructions on how will come in time for the Steam launch.

    Cross-Mail system

Will not initially be available. A support patch down the road will allow mail to be sent between EGS and Steam users.

    Achievements

Can not guarantee you'll obtain achievements already completed when transferring your save, but can potentially be earned by completing the requirements again and definitely on new characters created on Steam.

Self imposed challenge run: Scavenger Mode

    Posted: 05 Mar 2020 01:07 PM PST

    Hey Borderfans,

So I'm playing through BL3 again levelling up an alt (good ol FL4K) and I started doing a small self imposed challenge to mix things up. I call it Scavenger Mode.

The basic premise is that at each new quest activated, new map entered, or new general area, I go to a vending machine and sell absolutely everything I have. Weapons, grenades, shields, all of it. Then I would go through the level picking off enemies and opening every bin I could and using whatever the game gave me in that zone. Then when I move to the next zone I sold everything and repeated it all. It helped having a pet and using rakk attack so I could take out enemies from a distance, but the idea is to start with nothing and work with what you get.

This is definitely not a mode for those who love to hold on to their good drops, but I'm level 20-ish and everything's gonna get replaced anyway so why hold on to them?

The inspiration for this came when I got to Lectra City, Killavolt frames his competition as a Battle Royale, and while I'm sure that's just Gearbox taking a dig at battle royale games, it got me thinking: what if there was a Battle Royale mode in Borderlands? Not a PvP one, but if you (and your team) were dropped into a map with 50-100 NPC enemies that all fought against each other to be the last one standing. While I doubt the engine could really handle that it's a fun thought. The idea of being dropped in with no items and having to scavenge to scrape together a kit is fun and could lend itself well to this kind of game with so many potential drops. Plus there are so many permutations of weapons in Borderlands that it makes you appreciate the differences. You wind up using a lot of common tier items so you have to play a little more carefully since you can't just steamroll everyone with blues and purples. You still have an advantage with traits and action skills but hampering yourself can lead to interesting situations.

Anyways I recommend giving it a shot with any alts or even putting your stuff in the bank to try out max level difficulty things with this rule.

Which wacky/crazy gun, grenade, or shielddo you want to get buffed next?

    Posted: 05 Mar 2020 06:40 PM PST

As we all know, Gearbox is buffing numerous underperforming weapons to make all sorts of new, potentially crazy ass builds. The Faisor sounds great now. What do you think the next buffed weapons and misc items should be?

    Games like Borderlands?

    Posted: 05 Mar 2020 02:01 PM PST

So I've been playing BL2 since like 2013 and I love it and I've played through BL3 a few times now and I feel like I need some new games like it, I'm gonna start a play through of BL1 in the next week. I've heard Bioshock is similar and I played through Infinite and parts of 1 and 2 but those didn't grab me, Destiny was ok but not fully my thing, any other suggestions that are similar in some way?

Crader Emp-5 buff is +80% crit damage while airborne.

    Posted: 05 Mar 2020 09:23 AM PST

There has to be a reason that this just got a buff like this even though there is very few moments CURRENTLY that could even utilize this type of buff.

Honestly Vault Hunters I think Gearbox is setting up to add more veritcality to B3 somehow. I don't know what they plan to do but something tells me one of these big content drops is gonna introduce some major Air time.

So for this I say to you, do not automatically sell your airborne anointments right away. If you like the gun but you get this Anointment, stow it.

I truly feel like Sliding, Slamming, and Verticality are going to get some great changes here soon. I recommend you keep any god roll gun you get with the Airborne or Sliding anoint. just in case.
