Not sure where else to ask this, but is Battleborn a "bad ending" version of Borderlands 3?

Just finishing up the campaign here, and listening to Tyreen's big plan to "eat all the stars in the Universe" brought me back to Battleborn's central premise of there being one star left. Could be a cool connection!

    Rhys Strongfork’s Corporate Chaos!

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 07:58 AM PDT

That's the title of a DLC idea I had.

On the S&S Munitions homeworld of Artemis, the rights to S&S Munitions are up for grabs, and Maliwan, Dahl, Hyperion, and Vladof are willing to tear each other (and the planet) apart to acquire them! Help Rhys, Lorelei, and Zero beat back the corporate hordes, and secure the rights for Atlas!

    What we'd get:

A brand new world to explore in Artemis. I'm imagining it being a largely forested world (Chose Artemis as S&S was founded by two hunters, Artemis was goddess of the hunt), and a brand new vehicle to explore it in. I'm thinking something evocative of a deer, to keep in line with the Artemis theme.

S&S legendaries returning as mission rewards and legendary drops: essentially they'd be COV guns with a high-tech re-skin.

More interaction with Rhys, Lorelei, and Zero, with Mordecai taking a personal interest, as Artemis is his home planet. Maybe the whole B-Team can get involved.

A smorgasbord of new enemies to fight. Not only do we travel to zones occupied by different corporations, but we also travel to zones where multiple forces are fighting each other in free for alls, playing in to the mayhem theme of the overall game.

I imagine the final boss of the game to be the greatest weapon each corporation has in a chaotic five way fight amongst S&S's reactivated security systems.

When we eventually get around to Borderlands 4, S&S as a subsidiary of Atlas (S&S by Atlas: state of the art) comes full circle and replaces COV as the high magazine weapons of choice.

    Thanks for reading!

EDIT: Thank you so much for the awards!

EDIT 2: A user named Oshava came up with a fantastic idea about Fiona becoming the CEO of S&S in the comments.

On the topic of the Krieg Fantastic FusterCluck DLC...

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 06:51 AM PDT

Did we actually learn anything new about him? Honestly, it was so underwhelming, we found out that he's insecure, loves Maya a lot and was experimented on, but is that it? Really Gearbox?

For a DLC about going into the mind of Krieg, you would have thought it would have better reveals. The newest information we got was a quick tease of what his family may have looked like, but surely if you're going to put a reveal about his family anywhere it would be in his f*cking DLC???? Show us them, show us his past. The most interesting thing we got was the lullaby collectables, which even then aren't a reveal but a TEASER for future reveals.

I just feel that the entire games been a let down in terms of writing, and this was the final nail in the coffin. A DLC story pack about arguably the best character in the franchise was as significant as a puff of air. It felt like an attempt to recapture the magic of the Claptastic Voyage but with none of the energy, good writing or new ideas.

    DLC dedicated to Clay

    Posted: 25 Sep 2020 11:51 PM PDT

    Alright hear me out.

After running through the campaign again I completely forgot about the amazing dialogue from Clay about him taking over a planet with an army of jabbers. I think having either a small dlc, similar to borderlands 2 headhunters, or event kind with Clay and his dream would be a pretty cool concept.

I think that the backlash to the new dlc can be summed up with "Safe"

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 09:47 AM PDT

The new dlc was fun but it got a lot of people asking why the writers didn't fully utilize the insanity of Krieg's mind. Why they didn't actually delve into deeper feelings and never really went anywhere near the plot of the game.

It was as though the writers didn't want to upset anyone and went the safest, most cookie cutter route they could think of and splashed some meat in there because it's Krieg. It was as though they were so confident that a dlc focused on Krieg would sell that they didn't feel like challenging the audience and simply avoided anything remotely interesting. Sure Vaulthalla was a cool concept but what of his relationship with "HIS GENERATION". No, creating new models would be costly and getting the voice actors would require effort. what about his feelings on Ava? Nah, people don't like Ava and it would be hard to make a compelling narrative where the two sides of Krieg fight struggle with their perception of her. What about anything other than a faceless hyperion bad guy scientist? We don't have the time, nor care to make a good villain so we'll just add in "very bad guy #3432", people will like that right?!

All in all, the dlc had some fun stuff to it but they never tried anything cool with it. Those are my two cents at least

    Borderlands DLC Idea

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 04:41 PM PDT

This is completely wishful thinking but I think it'd be awesome if gearbox released an "Assault on New Haven" DLC for Borderlands 1.

Beyond just adding new quests and areas, it would be especially cool if they revamped the BL1 characters skill trees.

    Promethia/Promethius/Promethea?

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 01:24 PM PDT

In the Borderlands franchise, the Atlas Home Planet has had different names through the games. In Borderlands, Patricia Tannis refers to it as Promethius during one of the Hidden Journals in Arid Badlands. In the General Knoxx DLC, the Atlas Speakers at T-Bone Junction refers to it asPromethia. In Borderlands 3, it is spelled as Promethea. So which is it?

Dear Gearbox, please bring back the Double Anarchy SMG from Borderlands 1 as a legendary gun.

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 05:02 PM PDT

If you guys ever played the first game, you'll remember how deadly the double anarchy was. The Lascaux from borderlands 2 also felt like you were using double anarchy as well. I'd love to see it return in a future event or dlc as a legendary weapon.

Spoiler Another post about how the Borderlands 3 story sucks and how the DLC sucks even harder. And I’m sad about it.

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 03:21 PM PDT

Also posted this in the BL3 sub

OG BL1 and BL2 player here. Borderlands is easily one of my favorite games of all time. By now I'm sure you've heard a lot of that and a lot about how the story sucks.

You can say it's because it got the woke treatment, you can say it's because of a change in writers both of which I maybe agree with you to a certain extent. But in my opinion the worst crime BL3 commits is that there are so many opportunities for amazing story telling and gameplay that they did introduce to the game that for whatever reason they decided to abandon.

Genuinely tell me that if Troy would have betrayed Tyreen after being second fiddle all his life and went on a rampage that that wouldn't have been a million times better.

IMO this group of vault hunters is perfectly on par with every other iteration and having only mained FL4K and Zane I was very impressed and intrigued with their back stories. One of the Flynt brothers?? Awesome.... really fucking cool. A Robot who becomes self aware and lives by a mantra and a relationship with death....and has a close relationship with all kinds of Alien wildlife? 10/10

I didn't really play Moze or Amara but I'm sure there's all kinds of cool shit there.

Aaaaaand nothing else... a few Echo recordings here and there but that's about it. I would argue I like their back stories more than the actual main story line.

Brick, Mordecai and Tina? 3 of Borderlands most beloved characters? Nope. Nada.

Zero getting all mushy at Lorelei? Forget it.

    More Siren Lore? Tannis.

A beloved company like Jakobs actually showing a little of a dark past and some semblances of corruption? Fuck you.... you get nothing.

I mean fuck.... The pieces are all there!!

Instead we get 4 really lame DLCs (with no real Raid bosses I might add which is fucking criminal ) and one of them being some sort of Red Dead Redemption 2 nod or Anime troll .... not exactly sure. Love and tentacles was alright... but again there was so much more they could have done with that. So was Handsome Jackpot.... but like me I bet you thought you might see a little of Handsome Jack or even AI handsome jack from tales of the borderlands..... Lolol go fuck yourself

    • Sincerely, Gearbox

EDIT: if there's stuff maybe I'm missing then I apologize, maybe there's things I haven't seen yet but that's my feelings as of Level 65 and completing about 90% of the game

And I realize that none of the vault hunters ever really got much more than a few echo recordings to delve into their backstories but that's potentially 4 awesome DLCs right there. And you could take it further by using their counterpart vault hunters to each character's DLC. I.e a story that focuses on FL4K but also has a lot of Zero in it. Idk just spitballing but again I just feel like it's another wasted opportunity

    Controversial Opinion

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 05:12 AM PDT

    Hey guys,

There's a lot of really cool people on this sub that definitely know a lot about the borderlands universe than I do. The first one is still my favorite, and I honestly have more hours logged on that game than most other games (except halo).

But lately, I've been feeling that Borderlands 3 is losing what I used to like about the games. That feeling of absolute helplessness as you increased the difficulty. In the first game, being level 69 and trying to face Crawmerax alone was basically impossible unless you really did want to grind your life away. I miss that, because it was truly rewarding when you were able to kill him with a four man squad.

Eventually, nodded guns made it pretty instant, but did NOT ruin the game in my opinion, because they added another layer of replayability to everything.

With the Mayhem 10 update to BL3, I feel like not enough has been done. I use a Moze build with nothing specifically smart build wise (just max out anything with incendiary damage in the skill tree and use incendiary guns) and I'm quite literally sweeping through all the DLC and anything else.

I really don't think this should be possible especially alone. I get that I needs to be "doable" by yourself, but I'm wasting every new Mayhem 10 boss I come across. It's fun while I have new DLC to play, but I don't see the replay desire for all of it anymore. It's not even a challenge at this point.

I hate to use Destiny in any comparison with my favorite series, but in Destiny 2 as many of you know, there's the Leviathan missions. No matter WHAT your level is or what gear you have, it is extremely challenging even with a group.

I think the true endgame content in Borderlands is meant to be more like that. There is a true feeling of reward and completion after and it helps build the community up a little more.

Even Maliwan Blacksite is farmable now with one person doing the whole thing for under-leveled players. I just disagree that things like this should be possible in the game.

Anyway, that's my rant. I'm aware there's a lot of different opinions on this. In the last week or so, I've been reading what others have said about how new players won't really even experience these mechanics and difficulties, however there is still the portion of the community (like us) who are out there, and I think it would be amazing if gearbox made it fun for us too!
